Rainwater pipe – a pipe that attaches to the side of a home in order to collect and disperse gutter water, which is then harvested, pushed into a nearby sewer, or allowed to seep into the ground
Reclaimed brick – brick that has been recovered in order to be reused
RIBA – the Royal Institute of British Architects is a professional body that accredits architects and disseminates knowledge
RICS – The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors is a body that accredits professionals within the land, property, construction, and infrastructure sectors worldwide
Ridge – a body that supplies property and construction consultancy for all market sectors
Rights to light – it gives the owner of a property (with windows) the right to maintain a level of illumination
Rights to light surveyor – someone who calculates whether a development causes an infringement on a person’s right to light
Risk assessment – intended to ensure that health and safety issues are properly considered during a project’s development, so the risk to those who build, use and maintain the structure is reduced
Roofer – a worker who specialises in installing, repairing and replacing roofs
Rooflight – a window built into a roof for letting natural light in
