Rachel and Michael are eating in the kitchen, lovely to though it is, it’s a little cramped now they have a little boy. They asked Pride Road to look at ideas for a glass extension for their home in Heaton Mersey, Stockport. We looked at designs involving knocking though the kitchen to the lounge. Because the house has a cellar and a rear basement access from the garden, extending isn’t quite so simple as the entrance to the cellar needs to be considered.
Rachel asked us if they needed planning, we explained that because of the cellars, the ground floor was significantly higher than the external garden level, anything extending may create overlooking issues and therefore planning would be required.
At the workshop we looked at 2 options: an extension and an internal reconfiguration. We also had time to look at the external rear proposed elevations and we drew out a couple of options, showing a flat roof with lanterns and a mono pitch roof with roof lights.
We were impressed with Lisa's approach which was very professional, yet personal.
We explored a number of options to make the most of the space we have available and Lisa provided good advice to provide flexibility in the layout. Lisa listened to our ideas and we were impressed with her imaginative approach and problem solving.
We would highly recommend her and enjoyed the workshop very much.

properties that have cellars will more than likely need planning permission for an extension
