Reconfiguring a late 1980s detached house in Hazel Grove

Our clients James and Frances moved into their 4 bedroomed house 5 years ago, and now with 3 children and parents coming to stay, and the layout is not working for them.

The kitchen was separated from the dining room by a study. A conservatory had been added to the rear, blocking light to the dining room and study and blocking views of the garden.

During the workshop, Lisa from Pride Road Architects hand drew 6 different options, from retaining the conservatory, replacing it with a single storey extension to removing it altogether.

Lisa also advised that a simple fix to let in more light to the house in general is to remove the faux leaded lights and to remove the 8ft conifer hedge to the front.
