Earlier this month it was RIBA President Jane Duncan’s last council meeting, and President-Elect Ben Derbyshire thanked her for her achievements over the last two years. Jane campaigned on a mandate of Pride, Profit and People….
Pride… Jane created a series of ambassadors, held a series of presidential debates and will see the launch of two international chapters.
Profit….during the presidential debates, Jane took a stand against zero hours working contracts, for pay for internships and challenged procurement
People…. as a figurehead for equality and diverse Jane instigated the ‘role models campaign’
Through Jane’s guidance, RIBA became the lead industry voice on Brexit, and is helping to respond compassionately, ethically and responsibly to the awful tragedy at Grenfall.
It is testament to Janes presidency that we have so many BME and female candidates standing for election this year, as well as a couple of excellent male colleagues standing for re-election.
Elections close on 26th July. Please vote!
