Project Overview: The transformation of a two-bedroom mid-terrace house in Lacey Green, Wilmslow involved extensive reconfiguration to better suit modern living standards. The original layout was inefficient, with a staircase positioned awkwardly in the middle of the property and a cramped bathroom located at the back of the ground-floor kitchen.
Scope of Work: We began by removing the staircase from the middle of the house and converting it into a winder configuration, freeing up significant space. The ground-floor extension allowed for additional room and created a better flow throughout the house. In terms of safety, we added a hallway (required for fire escape regulations) and restructured the entrance, which previously opened straight into the lounge.
Challenges: The original toilet configuration was a significant challenge, with bizarre placements that compromised the home’s layout. The ground-floor extension and staircase relocation were key in solving these space and layout issues. Additionally, providing escape routes while adhering to safety regulations was crucial, which required a corridor to be added.
Outcome: The reconfiguration transformed the property from a cramped two-bedroom house into a spacious three-bedroom family home. A future addition of a stud wall, could turn it into a 4 bed!
We added a toilet on the ground floor, an additional bathroom on the second floor, and converted the attic into usable space. This transformed the previously dysfunctional mid-terrace into a modern, functional home, increasing both its value and appeal.
