Doubling the size of a 1980s house in Wilmslow

Katie’s house was small, but it had a plot worth utilising. She found Architect Lisa Raynes through the Gossip Girls Facebook group, After interviewing a couple of other architects, Katie started the design process with Pride Road with the Concept Design Workshop. She found the session really good, challenging all her ideas. Lisa suggested an ambitious scheme, which won Katie over and in due course, won the planners over too!

The house was a tiny 2 bedroom semi detached house in Wilmslow, built in the 1980s with no hall and a miniscule kitchen. The proposal was a wrap-around extension to the rear and side , extending to two storeys in part . All under a pitched roof to the first floor level and mono-pitch roofs to the ground floor with a Sun Tube to the rear roof elevation . Rear facing bi-fold door system to the ground floor and high-level side window .

In essence we created a large open plan kitchen living dining room, with a proper  entrance hall, a rear facing master bed with a vaulted ceiling and ensuite.

Katie says ‘the team at Pride Road were really good and helpful. The contractor kept asking stupid questions and Alan was very helpful’

‘The best thing about my house, is that I live in the large back room, I love the openplanness, there is everything you need in one room. Don’t be worried about loosing garden space with an extension, now the garden is landscaped, it looks bigger than it did before’

‘I would recommend Prescott and Joules for the kitchen and Cheshire Granite for the quartz worktop. My favourite place to site is in the back corner in front of the Eronic electric fire. I’ve got an Ise boiling water tap, which is fantastic and a fraction of the price of the leading brand. During the build I found the Ninja really useful when I was living without a kitchen’

Estimated Cost £150,000
