Semi-Detached House Extension and Redesign Urmston
Project Brief
When our clients moved into this semi-detached property, they inherited a large, dated conservatory that dominated the rear of the house and blocked access to the garden. Their vision was to create a stylish, modern living space that connected seamlessly to the outdoors. Click here to look back to see how it all started
What We Did
We ran a design workshop to explore options and help the clients unlock the potential of their home. They chose a bold and contemporary rear extension that completely replaced the conservatory. The new structure opened up the rear of the house with full-width bifold doors, a striking overhang, and a timber-and-render finish.
The result is a space flooded with natural light, blending indoor and outdoor living. The exposed steel beams and sleek industrial finishes inside contrast beautifully with warm textures and greenery outside. The new open-plan kitchen–diner features reclaimed timber detailing, a large island, and views across the newly landscaped garden.
Key Features
Architect’s View
“It was a joy to help transform this house. The old conservatory blocked light and connection to the garden. What’s been built is a real celebration of materials, light, and flow—inside and out.”
